Walter Irvin Kelley

Walter Irvin Kelley, 84, of Edinburg, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Mr. Kelley was born March 17, 1941, in Deerfield, VA, son of the late Arthur Dean Kelley and Genavee Griffin Kelley. He was a self-employed carpenter and had worked at Camp Strawderman. He was a member of Woodstock Moose Lodge #575 and Edinburg VFW Aux.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gayle McDonald Kelley whom he married on April 2, 1959; five children, David A. Kelley and Janet of Edinburg, Douglas Paul Kelley and Joyce of Mt. Jackson, Daniel Walter Kelley and Julie of Edinburg, Katherine G. Decassan and Mark of Edinburg, and Kevin McDonald Kelley and his late partner Fred of MA; two brothers, Henry Kelley of Rockville, MD and Hugh Kelley and wife Joann of PA; 17 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Walter loved hunting, playing poker and pull tabs. He was the best carpenter there ever was. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
