Barbara McCaskill Obituary

Barbara Ferguson McCaskill passed away on Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. Following her tough 13-month battle with lung cancer, Barbara died peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
Barbara was born in Nashville, Ten., on March 1, 1934, to Kathleen and Dean Tabor. She lived all around the U.S., from Long Island, to Anchorage to Albuquerque to Fort Walton Beach (where she and her family settled down for good in 1982). Barbara earned her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Mexico, and later held leadership roles in the local Okaloosa chapter of the AAUW (American Association of University Women).
Barbara loved to travel and visited many global destinations, especially following her husband's retirement. Her most memorable trips were to Greece, Russia, Scotland, China and Peru. She adored reading books and solving puzzles (crosswords and Suduko) and had an incredibly caring demeanor and an enduring sense of humor. She enjoyed movies, theatre and going out with her "lunch bunch" friends as well. In stores, you always knew where Barbara was by following the sounds of her beautiful whistling.
Barbara McCaskill was an exceptional wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her adoring husband of 60 years, William Kenneth McCaskill (age 85), along with her two children, Cameron David McCaskill (age 46) and Kathleen Amanda McCaskill (age 44). Barbara is also survived by her two grand-children, Savannah Westlake McCaskill (age 17) and Carter William McCaskill (age 14).
The family is organizing a small private memorial service and is asking for donations to the American Cancer Society in Barbara McCaskill's honor in lieu of flowers.
