Catherine Bicksler Obituary
Fort Walton Beach - A memorial service will be held for Catherine "Cathy" Bicksler on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 11:00AM. The service will be held at Davis Watkins Funeral Home, 113 NE Racetrack Road, Ft. Walton Beach, FL 32547.
Catherine Susan Brooks Bicksler, 83, of Fort Walton Beach, FL passed away on November 5, 2020 surrounded by her loving family after fighting a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Cathy was born on July 27, 1937 to Lawrence and Beulah Brooks in Fredericksburg, VA.
Cathy was predeceased by her parents and her husband of 41 years, Donn Bicksler.
She is survived by her daughter Catherine LaValle (Peter) of Fort Walton Beach; granddaughter Amelia Pate of Fort Walton Beach; brother, Thomas Brooks (Carol) of Portland, OR; and "adopted son" Chanh Van Nguyen (Linda) of Raleigh, NC.
Cathy attended Stetson University where she joined the Phi Mu Fraternity and met her future husband, Donn. She was a member of the Fort Walton Beach Panhellenic Society. She was also a member of St. Simon's Episcopal Church and volunteered with the Altar Guild. Cathy volunteered with the Fort Walton Beach Police Department in the Records Department where she made several lifelong friends. She loved genealogy and belonged to the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR). She also enjoyed her time with the Red Hat Beach Divas and her lunches with Community Friends. Cathy was an avid bridge player, loved to grow orchids, and travel the world.
