Charles Woodson Obituary

April 8, 1934 – Oct. 27, 2009. Charles Woodson, age 75, passed away peacefully Oct. 27, 2009, after a long illness. He was surrounded by his family.
Charles was born and raised in Greenville, S.C. He served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force where he met and married his wife, Sheila, while stationed in England. He retired from the Air Force in 1971 and settled with his family in Shalimar, Fla., where he lived for the past 38 years. He loved the area beaches and shared that love with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila Woodson; children, Paul, Gary and Sandra Woodson; daughter-in-law, Cristina Woodson; grandchildren, Stephanie, Alexander and Isabella Woodson; and sister, Maggie Wallace. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lexa Ann and William Earnest Woodson; sisters, Roxie Sams and Dalcie Mae Woodson; brothers, Johnny and Leroy Woodson; and daughter, Julie Ann Woodson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, followed by burial at Beal Memorial Cemetery with military honors.
Following the burial, friends are invited to join the family in a celebration of life at Cantrell Hall, next to the Chapel of The Cross, 100 Jonquil Ave., Fort Walton Beach.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Charles Woodson to Covenant Hospice, 101 Hart St., Niceville, FL 32578; or Alzheimers Family Service, Inc., 1901 Palafox St., Pensacola, FL 32501-2142.
