Jacquelyn Fay Ifland

1939 - 2019

Jacquelyn Fay Ifland passed away peacefully at home on 20 November 2019 with her family by her side just a few weeks shy of her 80th birthday. She was born in Semmes, Alabama on 12 December 1939 to John and Glana Piitz. She attended Semmes High School, class of '58 and moved to Fort Walton Beach, Florida in the early 60's. It was here in Fort Walton Beach that she met the love of her life, Jim Ifland, a 30-year career Air Force Officer. They married on 2 October 1965. She began her career as a housewife, mother, artist and world traveler. They were married 54 years and raised three children as they transferred to several Air Force bases. The highlight being stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany for 5 years where she was able to visit France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Budapest, Morocco, Netherlands, Portugal, Denmark, England and Iran. After Air Force retirement, Jim worked for the CIA for 15 years in the Northern Virginia area, providing Jacque with an opportunity to be a part of the Agency community. Jacque's entire life was devoted to family, church, pursuit of the arts and community. According to her she was "blessed with a healthy life filled with precious memories, particularly with family, her fellow artists and her church buddies." Their final move was to Florida, building their waterfront home and extensive travels, cruises and road trips to the National Parks out west. When not traveling, Jacque was involved in the shoe box ministry, sewing programs, and volunteering for Missions activities. She was an accomplished artist specializing in pastels and receiving recognition in several juried art shows. Jacque was preceded in death by her parents and her stepmother, Peggy Piitz. She is survived by her husband, Jim, her children Jeffrey (Terri) Ifland, Kenneth (Dyanne) Ifland, Jacquelyn Phillips and 7 grandchildren; John, Matthew and Hannah Phillips, John (Itzi) Ifland, Alexandra (Matthew) Hartsfield, Garrett Ifland (Valerie Gatlin) and Jared Ifland.
A celebration of life will be held at the First Methodist Church in Fort Walton Beach, Saturday 30 November 2019 at 11:00am with visitation beginning at 10:00am. Reception will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers Jacque and her family would appreciate a contribution to St. Jude's Children Hospital or the First Methodist Church's Generation to Generation capital fund.
