Katelyn Whiteted Obituary

Katelyn Christian Whiteted, passed away on Saturday, December 18th, 2010, in her hometown of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
Born on June 2, 2006, to parents Austin and Robin Whiteted, Katie was 4 years old. Like her mother, Katie loved to read, and like her father, she could make anyone laugh. She had an intelligence and sense of humor that impressed and entertained all who met her. Much like her favorite song, Katie twinkled like a little star in all our lives.
Katelyn is survived by her mother and father, her brother Brice; grandparents Brenda and Bill Singletary, Brian Whiteted, Portia and Clint Fountain, and Karen Whiteted; great-grandparents Ines Goff, and Jack and Barbara Whiteted; aunts and uncles Angela and Tom Brittain, Portia, Sara, and Jack Whiteted, Devan and Drew Scobie, and Colton Fountain; and cousins Garet and Seth Brittain. She joins in heaven her uncle Sean Singletary.
Funeral services will be held at The East Gate Chapel on Eglin Air Force Base on Monday, December 27th, beginning at 11:00 a.m. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Donations in Katelyn's honor may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital www.stjude.org/tribute.
Thank you to all the families who have so generously blessed our family with prayers, food, and support.

You never think you could love anyone more than your own children, until that first grandchild comes along and your heart grows so big that your chest can not contain it. This is what Katie is for me, that love that is so big it shines out of everything that I am. I will miss you every day until I see you again. I have thousands of more kisses for you sweet little face. You are the best of all of us. Sweet Dreams my little Katie Bug. Love you forever, Nana

To Katie's family,

I am so sorry for the loss of your precious Katie. I send my empathy and understanding, as I have also lost a child. Even though we have never met, I just wanted you to know that you are not alone in this devastating journey. In the days, weeks, or months ahead, if you ever need someone to listen, please remember I am here. Bereaved parents are family.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
