Barbara Damiani Obituary

HUDSON, Fla. – Barbara J. Damiani, 74, of Hudson, Fla., formerly of McHenry, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 24, 2012.
She was born April 14, 1938, in Melrose Park, the daughter of the late Charles and Katherine (Bisterfeldt) Rabe. She lived in McHenry for many years before settling in Hudson in 1995. On Dec. 9, 1956, she married Robert Damiani in Chicago. He died Dec. 29, 2008.
Before her retirement in 1994, Barbara worked for more than 20 years as an executive secretary at Baxter Laboratories.
Barbara was a former member of the Shepherd of the Hills Church in McHenry and enjoyed keeping up her house, baking, taking care of her animals and especially being with her family. She enjoyed the company of her faithful companion, Boopikins.
She is survived by three sons, William Damiani of Hudson, Fla., Jeff (Donna) Damiani of McHenry and Mike (Diane) Damiani of Antioch; six grandchildren, Anthony Damiani, Paul Damiani, Amanda (Trevor) Rische, Joseph Damiani, Andrea (Robert) Silva and Rachel Damiani; two great-granddaughters, Kierra and Tessa Rische; a sister, Dorothy Dethlefsen of Crest Hill; a brother, William Rabe of New Port Richey, Fla.; and nieces and friends.
The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at Strang Funeral Home of Antioch, 1055 Main St. (Route 83), Antioch. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Antioch.
