Major Bob Martindale, USAF (Ret.) was born in Dyersburg, TN on September 14. 1944 and passed away at home on November 1, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Adeline, his sister, Mary Ellen Martindale Fournie, and his brother, James W. Martindale.
He is survived by his son, Miguel J.R. Martindale, and daughter, Alison Martindale Kinney, his grandchildren; Easton Scott Strickler, Laura Stanton Strickler, his sister, Carol Martindale Bataille.
He was a career USAF pilot flying B-52s on multiple combat air missions during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 7 Devices, Outstanding AF Unit Award with Valor Device, Distinguished Presidential Unit Citation with 1 Device, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Device, along with numerous other awards for his honorable USAF service. He served in the USAF from 1968 to 1988.
Bob is a graduate of Southern Illinois University with a BA and received an MA from the University of Oklahoma.
Bob worked in several government high tech contract positions after retiring from the USAF before finally retiring and moving to the Cary area to be near his sister and her family. He was a generous and loving father and uncle. His happy place was his computer workstation.

Visitation for Bob will be held on Friday, 11/11/2022 from 3:00 to 5:30, followed by memorial service from 5:30-6:00 at the Kahle-Moore Funeral Home, Cary, IL. Burial for Bob will take place on Saturday, November 12TH at 10:00 AM at Fort Sheridan National Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
