Caryl K. Fabian, 96, of Huntley, died, March 22, 2024, peacefully at her home with her family by her side.
Caryl was born May 15, 1927, the daughter of Carl and Wilhelmina Schilling (nee Wulff). Caryl worked as a lab technician for UOP and Abbott Laboratories. She was always very athletic and also worked as a swimming and diving instructor at the YMCA. She participated in a number of sports including synchronized swimming, competitive Masters swimming, sailing, golfing and most of all downhill skiing, skiing until age 89. She was an extensive traveler who traveled to all fifty states, over thirty-one countries and four continents. Later in life she moved to Del Webb Sun City, where she was active in the Time Steppers, the Stingray Swim Team, two golf leagues and many other neighborhood activities. In addition, she loved word puzzles including the daily crossword and crytoquote puzzles.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Brian) Brong, Nancy Krett (Nestor Motluck) and Susan Krett, by her grandchildren, David, Emily (Marcos) and Spencer (Erica) Ruskin, and by her brother, Sheldon (Dee) Schilling.
Caryl was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands (Joseph Krett and Joseph Fabian), and by her sister, Nola Rae.
A memorial service will be held on April 27th at 2:00 pm (visitation at 1:00) at DeFiore Funeral Home -10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association.
