Charles H. Gibisch, age 93, of McHenry, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at his residence. He was born December 15, 1924 in Chicago, IL to Charles G. and Helen (Klimek) Gibisch. On June 15, 1946, he married the love of his life, Shirley Abbate, in Skokie, IL.

Chuck grew up in the Logan Square area, graduated from Albert G. Lane Technical High School, and later attended University of Illinois and Syracuse University. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, assigned to the Signal Service Battalion in the Philippine Region during World War II.

All his life, Chuck worked hard as an engineer and service manager for RCA, Motorola, and North American Philips. He and his wife, Shirley, relocated to the McHenry area 20 years ago and have called it home ever since. Chuck was an avid fisherman and model train enthusiast. He enjoyed collecting and assembling model trains.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Shirley; son, Randal (Mary Kay) Gibisch; daughter, Peggy (Richard) Rendino; and four grandchildren, Tyler Gibisch, Lauren Gibisch, Richard Rendino, Julie (Adam) Smith.

In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles.

Friends and neighbors are invited to gather from 10:00 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050. The funeral service will be in the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. with military honors to follow.
