Dr. Dennis Zidek Dennis R. Zidek, D.C., 61, of Wonder Lake, died Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Centegra Hospital - McHenry. He was born April 7, 1952 in Chicago to Anthony Frank Jr. and Florence Marie (Jacobson) Zidek. On August 18, 1973, he married Myrna F. Dorsen at Visitation Church in Elmhurst. They first met when he tagged along with his brother, Larry, and Myrna accompanied her sister, Evelyn, on an outing to the McHenry County Fair. As a boy, Dennis grew up in Chicago followed by Niles, graduating from Notre Dame High School in Niles. First focusing on a career in business, he attended Lewis University in Lockport. After making a decision to attend chiropractic college, he finished coursework at Oakton Community College before attending the National College of Chiropractic (now National University of Health Sciences) in Lombard, where he graduated in August of 1976. Following graduation, he took over his brother 's practice in Westchester after his brother relocated to Shelbyville. In addition to Westchester, he began practicing in Wonder Lake in 1979. In 1986, he built the building housing the Anthony Chiropractic practice, and sold the Westchester practice. He maintained his practice until last November when his associate took over. Dennis was an avid fisherman.? He enjoyed fishing in Wonder Lake, as well as trips to Wisconsin and Lake Michigan. While living in McHenry, he stocked the pond in his backyard with fish. He also enjoyed playing the guitar as a young man. He was a member of the Sportsmens Club in Wonder Lake, the Illinois Chiropractic Society, the American Chiropractic Society, the Wonder Lake Chamber of Commerce, and a past member of the Wonder Lake Lions Club. As a teenager in the late 60 's, he was a member of the Wonder Lake Ski Show Team. Dennis was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and brother whose family was most important to him. He will be remembered for his willingness to help anyone in any way that he was able.? Many of his former patients knew him to be an excellent resource in not only their medical needs, but also in finding hard to find items they were looking for. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Myrna; four children, Laura (Austen) Amacker of Pompano Beach, FL, Dennis Zidek Jr. of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, Jeremy Zidek and Angela (Scott) Wesley, both of Wonder Lake; three grandchildren, Elan Amacker, Haylee Wesley and Tyler Wesley; two brothers, Larry (Evelyn) Zidek of Johnsburg and Dr. Ronald (Sherry) Zidek of Shelbyville; and a sister-in-law, Janice Zidek of McHenry. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Anthony Frank Zidek III.
