Donald Hartmann Obituary

Donald H. Hartmann

Born: September 17, 1944; in Bismarck, ND

Died: February 23, 2017; in Waukesha, WI

Donald H. Hartmann, of Delavan, was born September 17, 1944 in Bismarck, North Dakota to Walter F. and Maria (Meier) Hartmann. He passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

Don had a love of farming and the outdoors that came about during his adolescence living in North Dakota. Upon moving to Dekalb, Il as a teenager, he met the love of his life, Billie. They would go on to spend the next 53 years together. Don was a devoted family man and was willing to drop everything to help out a friend. He had a passion for hunting, fishing, hiking, and nature. Don treasured his family more than anything and always did what he could to keep us all close to his heart. He always held the interests of others as top priority and touched the lives of so many. His tender heart, loving nature and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all.

Donald is survived by his wife, Billie Jean (McCabe), whom he married August 10, 1963 in DeKalb, Illinois; children, Amy (Jim) King, Jeff Hartmann, Steve (Beth) Hartmann, and Erin Hartmann; grandchildren, Matthew (Ashlee) King, Luke (Chelsea) King, Jonathan (Hillary) King, Hannah (Fianc Tyler Theissen), Rebecca King, Cole Hartmann, Jordan Hartmann, Ben Hartmann, Kate Hartmann, Jasper Hartmann, and Scout Hartmann; great grandchildren, Gabriel Lang King, Ella King, Denver King, and Daxton King; brother, Bob (Bonnie) Hartmann; and sister, Helen Carlton; as well as many other loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jennifer; and son, Timothy.

A celebration of life gathering will be held on Monday, February 27 from 9:30 AM until the time of Memorial Mass at 11:30 AM at St. Benedicts Catholic Church 137 Dewey Ave., Fontana, WI.

Billie, Amy, Jeff, Steve, Erin, Marlene, and Richard,
Donnie can breath easy now, he is probably showing God how to fish. I don't ever remember him without a smile on his face. I have been living away from home for 49 years but some things don't change. When your families kept me posted on face book I felt like a kid again visiting your mother at her work. It doesn't seem possible that now we all have grandkids. You will never know how YOUR LOVE SHOWED THE WORLD HOW IT SHOULD BE TO BE A REAL FAMILY. I AM SO PROUD OF ALL OF YA'LL. Thanks little ones for visiting your grandpa when the rest of us couldn't. God Bless each of you!!!. Remember, now, he is watching over you ALWAYS!!! SUSAN JAPUNTICH HUETHER
