Edward Steadman Obituary

Edward Charles Steadman Jr.
Born: February 2, 1943 in Chicago, IL
Died: November 11, 2025 in Crystal Lake, IL
Edward "Ed" Charles Steadman Jr., 82, of Crystal Lake, Illinois, passed away on November 11, 2025.
Born on February 2, 1943, in Chicago to Edward C. Sr. and Winifred H. (Simmons) Steadman, Ed built a life filled with laughter, music, and family. He and his wife Jacqueline ("Jackie") made Crystal Lake their home for more than four decades, creating a lifetime of memories surrounded by friends and loved ones.
A lifelong educator, Ed spent his career teaching with warmth, humor, and dedication, shaping the lives of countless students. After retiring from education, he continued sharing his friendly spirit and quick wit during 20 years at Home Depot in Crystal Lake, where he was well known and loved by colleagues and customers alike.
He is survived by his wife Jackie; children Michelle Steadman, Danielle (Scott) Norwood, and Brittany (Alex) Achey; stepchildren Denise (Bowe) Michaelis, Randy (Jane) Bowe, and the late Scott Bowe; siblings James Steadman, Susie Pennial, Lorraine Loser, and brother-in-law Dennis Rieben. He was a proud grandfather to Alicia (Joe) Cerney, Nathaniel Michaelis, Harlee Michaelis, Carissa Bowe, Nick (Jenna) Bowe, Skylar Bowe, Katelynn (Cody) Meininger, Jeremy Steadman, Ryan (Sally) Bowe, Brandon Bowe, Misty Bowe, Shea Norwood, Sawyer Norwood, Knox Norwood, Abigail Achey, and Kellan Achey, along with many beloved great-grandchildren.
Ed loved music-especially Elvis and gospel-and was known for his friendly manner, firm handshake, and the way he always laughed at his own jokes. In retirement, he cherished time with his grandchildren, reading, fishing, and sharing meals with Jackie at their favorite Crystal Lake restaurants.
A private family service will be held on November 22 at First Church of Crystal Lake, where Ed and Jackie were married in 1982. All are welcome to join the family for a Celebration of Life on February 1, near his birthday, to honor and remember a life well lived and a man deeply loved.

Steadman Family, Mr. Steadman taught me science at. St. Clare de Montefalco in Chicago in the late 60's. I planted a tree in Loving Memory of him. I thought since he taught me science it would be a very lovely remembrance of him. My deepest sympathies to Mr. Steadman's families & especially to his wife. RIP Mr. Steadman you were a great science teacher. Sincerely, Kathleen Cesak Schroeder, St. Clare de Montefalco Class of 1971.
