Francis William Forster Obituary

HARDIN, Ky. – Francis William Forster, 81, formerly of McHenry, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, at his home in Hardin.

He was born Sept. 27, 1929, to Francis William Forster Sr. and Imogene Slade Forster. He married Patricia Ann Nealon on June 25, 1955, at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Newark, Ohio.

He was a 1956 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.

He was employed for many years at E.T. Rugg Co. in Newark, Ohio, then for Cotter and Co. (General Power Equipment) of Chicago from 1974 until his retirement in 1994.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1948-52 ranked as a sergeant. He was a two-time Purple Heart recipient, the Korean Service Medal, the OCC medal of Japan, ROK President Unit Citation and Korean Service Medal.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf and spending time with his family, friends and his dog Dixie in Kentucky.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia; three daughters, Loraine (Jeffrey William) Meyers of McHenry, Kathleen Lechner of McHenry, Mary Susan Klein of Bolingbrook; his grandchildren, Jake Lechner, Jillian, Ashley and Cole Meyers, Rachael and Donnie Klein. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

There is no visitation or service; he donated his body to science, in care of the Anatomical Sciences Department at the University of Louisville, Kentucky.
