Frederick Kasting Obituary
He was born June 9, 1927, in Chicago. John was a resident of Mundelein since 1958. He was a member, former usher and Eucharistic minister of Santa Maria del Popolo, a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the VFW Post #4600 of Fox Lake, proudly having served with the U.S. Army from December 1945 through May 1947.
As a member of of IBEW Local 336, John retired from Illinois Bell after 35 years, and worked part time for IMC and Motorola.
He was a long-suffering Chicago Cubs fan and still is waiting.
He is survived by his loving children, Thomas (Barbara) Kasting, Mary (Glen) Melius, Nancy (Neal) Paisley, Catherine (Tom) Almanzo, Gail Brant, Matthew Kasting, Peter Kasting and Paul Kasting; his living grandchildren, Susan, Katy, Nicole, Sara, Thomas, Gretchen, Christian, Ben, Aaron and Ryan; and his siblings Ann Rohrich, Helen (William) Galliani and Rose (Peter) Timmers.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Colleen; and his siblings Harry, Joseph and Mary.
The visitation is from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Kristan Funeral Home P.C., 219 W. Maple Ave. (two blocks west of Route 45 on Route 176), Mundelein. The Mass of Christian Burial celebration for Frederick John Kasting will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Santa Maria del Popolo Church, 116 S. Lake St. (Route 45), Mundelein.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bellarmine Jesuit Retreat House, 175 W. County Line Road, Barrington, IL 60010-4043.

I am sorry to hear of John's passing. He was a friend of my parents Jim and Dorothy Smith (who have also passed on). My dad also retired from IBEW. Whenever I ran across John, he was smiling and friendly. The world has lost a wonderful, kind-hearted person.
