Glenn Vernon Way- man, born May 4, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois, loving husband of 40 years to Susan Wayman (nee Boehmke), passed away on November 15, 2025.
Together, they built a life and family they loved including their children John (Laura), Laura (Bill), Sarah (Kyle) and Ryan (Allison). He had 10 grandchildren, Anna, Ella, Leah, Luke, Emma, Shayla, Olivia, Adalyn, Charles and Jackson Glenn.
In addition to his family, Glenn filled his life with joy in so many ways including spending as much time as he could at the family lake house in Phillips, gardening, golfing and, of course, taking care of his impeccable lawn.
A Scout himself, he encouraged his children and grandchildren to always uphold the Cub Scout Motto, "Do Your Best," in everything they did, but more importantly, he modeled it in everything he did. Glenn was a part of Pack 347 for over twenty years.
Glenn was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He spent nearly his entire career with Liebovich Steel and Aluminum out of Rockford, IL. He was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church.
Glenn is also survived by his brother Roger and brother-in-law Phillip. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard, and mother, Elinor.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 24, from 3 - 7 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 25, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 404 N. Green Street, McHenry, IL 60050.
