John Urban, 55, of Woodstock and Marengo, died peacefully on January 10, 2023, in Barrington.
John was born in Chicago, on February 28, 1967, to parents Tadeusz "Ted" and Stanislawa "Stella" (nee Lenart) Urban. John was a 1986 graduate of Marengo High School and enjoyed getting pizza and watching movies with friends. He loved to walk around Woodstock, stopping to get coffee and visit with friends at McDonalds.
John is survived by his siblings, Ed (Diane) Urban, William Ted Urban, and Christina (Mike) Curry, his niece, Christine Curry, his great-nephews, Jayden and Camden, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Piotr and Michalina Urban and Stefan and Agnieska Lenart.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 17, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 7p.m. with prayers at 6:00 p.m. at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.
Mass will be Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 323 N Taylor Street, Marengo
Interment will be Thursday, January 19, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in John's name can be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

To the Urban family, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your brother John. I had the great pleasure of being John's roommate and friend. My life and responsibilities took me away from Woodstock so I lost touch with him. I will always remember John fondly. Most people don't know how caring he was. He was very considerate and would always surprise me with "snacks" in the house of things he knew I'd like. He was a great guy. I admired his determination to keep moving forward despite his limitations. He will be missed. I'm sorry I wasn't able to make it to his funeral. May he rest In peace and may God comfort you In this sorrowful time.
