Joseph McNamara Obituary

DAYTON, OHIO – Joseph "Burk" McNamara, 79, who was formerly of Crystal Lake and lived the last years of his life in his son's home in Dayton, Ohio, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, at Hospice of Dayton.
He was born Dec. 25, 1930, in Pennsylvania.
Known as Burk to his family and friends, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Lehigh University, a M.B.A. degree from Rutgers University, a Certificate of Advanced Studies degree in English literature from Northern Illinois University, and a Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola.
In his youth, he was an active and devoted member of the Boy Scouts of America, and as a young man, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, becoming an intelligence decoder.
In his adult life, he was a lawyer and taught law and business at McHenry County College in Crystal Lake. He also was the president of United Way and Hospice at Crystal Lake. 
He was a former managing member of MENSA, and in his retired years, he volunteered as a remedial driving instructor for seniors.
He leaves behind his sons, Paul of New Mexico and Wayne and his wife, Sandy, of Dayton; his daughter, Janet McNamara of Texas; his sister, Jane Eck and her husband, Carl, of Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. 
The visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the funeral at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Christ the King Anglican Church, 925 N. Main St., Dayton, Ohio. The Rev. Wayne McNamara will officiate. Burial will be at the Dayton VA National Cemetery.

I worked with Burk in the 1990's at MCC. He was a very kind and loving man, especially for those in Hospice. My deepest wishes of sympathy go out to his family.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Burk. Back in 1988-1989 I worked with Burk at a law firm.
