Julie Greif, 51 of Marengo, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021 at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, from injuries sustained in a car accident. Born April 5, 1970 the daughter of Earl and Mary (Watson) Wenngren. Graduated from Streamwood High School and went on to receive her associates in Criminal Justice at McHenry County Community college. Married her best friend and love of her life, Larry Greif, on July 27, 2013. Julie was well known for her bartending skills at Nikko's Red Mill, Nikko's Supper Club and also at Clausen's in Union. She was an avid supporter of the ASPCA, loved to camp and travel, was known for her canning skills and enjoyed photography. Julie cherished the times she got to talk for hours to her family on the phone and she never skipped a family event. Julie was a warm, kindhearted and caring person whose smile would light up any room, she will be missed dearly by anyone who had the chance to know her.
Survivors include her husband, Larry; step-children, Jason (Cherie) Greif, Julie (Kyle) Grismer and Mike (Kristin) Greif; grandchildren, Jaxon, Rachel, Ryan, Nathan and one on the way; siblings, Earl (Bonnie) Wenngren, Janice (Jeff) Harttert, JoAnn (Joe) Boyle and David (Deone) Wenngren; several nieces, nephews and cousins and her k9 and feline companions. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John and father-in-law, Rollie Greif.
Memorial service Monday, October 11, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 6821 Main St. Union with Pastor Caleb Schauer officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 3-7 p.m. at the church and continues on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
