Kenneth Michael Diedrich passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his three daughters and wife in Naples, Florida on November 24, 2021.
Ken was born in McHenry, Illinois on March 5, 1936. He was the son of Joseph and Vera (Pitzen) Diedrich. He was raised in McHenry on his parents' farm and graduated from McHenry High School. He was an expert electrician, having worked as a linesman and crew leader for Commonwealth Edison for 37 years.
After high school Ken served in the US Army. In his younger years, Ken was very involved in St. Patrick and St. Mary Catholic churches in McHenry. He was also a member of Catholic Order of Foresters for 75 years and volunteered at libraries in McHenry and Naples for 18 years.
For many years, Ken split his time between McHenry, Naples, and Minoqua, Wisconsin; where he enjoyed fishing, reading, and cooking. He leaves behind a cherished legacy of family recipes. To many of his friends, Ken was known as "Heinie" and was always willing to lend a hand when needed. He was also known for his willingness to engage in debate, often throwing in his favorite phrase, "That's not the point!"
Ken is survived by his three loving daughters: Kathryn (Neal) Noga, Suzanne Cannon, and Elizabeth (Larry) Letts; devoted wife of 27 years: Maria; 8 grandchildren: Karly, Anna, Dana, Max, Clark, Steffan, Gabrielle and Jacob; 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his first wife: Marie (Steffan); son: Michael Diedrich; grandson: Justin Diedrich; and his sister: Carol Abner.
Visitation will be held March 26, 2022, 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in McHenry. The funeral mass will start at 11:00 AM. The burial will follow at Church of Holy Apostles in McHenry.
In lieu of flowers memorial dentations may be directed to Pioneer Center or Fish Pantry in McHenry.
