Linda Hoefert Obituary

Linda Hoefert
Born: December 6, 1955 in Elgin, IL
Died: October 19, 2025 in Northbrook, IL
Linda Hoefert (née Nelson), 69, a 42-year resident of Mount Prospect, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025. Linda was born December 6, 1955, in Elgin, Illinois, and grew up in Crystal Lake and Cary, Illinois.
Linda attended Cary-Grove High School, where she was a top student. She played clarinet in the school band. Linda and her husband, Paul, whom she knew since 7th grade, started dating in high school and never looked back. Linda was the best thing that ever happened to Paul (his words).
Linda attended Miami University of Ohio, where she earned a degree in accounting. She worked at First National Bank of Chicago as a Commercial Banker before leaving to raise her family.
Linda was very active in Mount Prospect, volunteering in various organizations such as the Mount Prospect Historical Society, Infant Welfare, P.E.O., Scout Troop 23, and as a longtime member of the Village's Special Events Commission. She was also actively involved at Trinity United Methodist Church.
Linda loved going to the family cabin in Mercer, Wisconsin, and had a fond appreciation of the outdoors. Linda enjoyed renovating her older home, gardening, bird watching, being in nature, and especially spending time with her family. She was an amazing spouse, mother, daughter, sister, and friend to so many. She will always be remembered as a loyal person willing to give of herself to her family, her friends, and her community.
Linda is survived by her husband and best friend, Paul; sons Alex (Sara) and Andrew Hoefert; her grandchildren, Ellie, Saylor, and Walker; her brother, Bob Nelson; and sister, Susan (Denny) Rasmussen (née Nelson); extended family; and so many close friends whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Robert and Barbara Nelson (née Brayton).
A very special mention to the caregivers at For Papa's Sake-especially Beth-and at the Northbrook Inn-especially Audophine-both of whom became such an important part of her life and brought her love, comfort, and companionship in her time of need.
A wake will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 Central Road at Northwest Highway, Mount Prospect. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 605 W. Golf Road, Mount Prospect. Visitation at the church will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Services will begin at 11 a.m., with burial directly following at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, 101 N. Elmhurst Avenue, Mount Prospect.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, or locally to the Mount Prospect Historical Society, 101 S. Maple Street, Mount Prospect.
