Richard "Dick" H. Hills, 79, passed away November 19, 2020 at his home.
Richard was born in New York City, New York on December 14, 1940.
Richard served in the Army National Guard from 1958-1965. He attended college in Dayton, Ohio where he studied Business and met his wife, Mary Catherin. They built their life and home in Crystal Lake, Illinois in the early 70's. Richard and Mary loved entertaining during the holidays with family and friends. He was an avid golfer and always blamed his golf game on his clubs. He also had a passion for sports cars and riding Harley Davidson motorcycles. He was a lifetime member of the Harley Davidson Owners Group (HOG) and a member of the McHenry County HOG chapter where he dedicated countless hours volunteering for charitable events. He loved dancing, traveling world wide with his family and snowmobiling with his son Rick. He was a huge sports fan of NASCAR, basketball, and football.
He is survived by his son Richard "Rick" M. Hills, Chicago, IL; granddaughter, Gina Hills; sister, Linda Hills Kraemer, Cocoa Beach, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Ann (Barbara) Valenchis Hills; his father, Marcus Hills; and his sister, Audrey Hills Quinn. Richard's loving wife also passed away on November 19, 2020 at their home.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 27, 2021 from 4-7pm at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, Illinois.
A Roman Catholic Mass will be held on April 28, 2021 at 1:30pm at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, Illinois, where his family were members for over 40 years.
Due to COVID protocols, flowers are not permitted at the church. Memorial donations may be made to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) McHenry County, 620 Dakota St, Crystal Lake, IL 60012.
A graveside service will be held at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Catskills, New York on May 7, 2021.
