Richard Tyler Rixey, passed away on November 29, 2025 at the age of 80.
Dick was born on November 9, 1945 in Lakehurst, New Jersey to parents Palmer and Louise (Tyler) Rixey.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, he served his country with honor before continuing a long and meaningful career with the State of Florida, where he worked faithfully for more than 40 years.
Dick married the love of his life, Mary, and together they built 37 years of partnership, laughter, and unwavering support. Their marriage was one filled with music, friendship, and countless shared memories.
A true history enthusiast, Dick carried a deep appreciation for the past, and a particular pride in his Scottish heritage. He embraced the traditions of his roots through dance, folk music, and performance. Over the years he shared his talent and joy with many, performing in duos that brought music to gatherings, celebrations, and the hearts of those around him.
Known for his warm spirit, strong character, and the way he lit up a room with a tune, Dick leaves behind a legacy of patriotism, family, tradition, and song.
He is survived by his wife Mary Rixey, Step-children; Dan (Cathy) Peters, Andy Peters, Ed (Mary) Peters, and Cathy (Michael) Flanagan, his Siblings David Rixey and Diana (Angelo) Rixey, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many extended family, friends, and all who were touched by his life.
