Robert W. Haskins, 87, of Woodstock, peacefully passed from this world on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born May 11, 1929 in Detroit, MI, to Chester and Dorothy (Lacy) Haskins.

He married Nancy Thorsen in 1949, who passed away in 1993. In their loving marriage they raised six children while they resided in Highland Park, Illinois. He then married Grace Vyduna on November 12, 1994 in Woodstock, Illinois and they traveled the world on many an adventure together.

Mr. Haskins received a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Northwestern University and master's degree in engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He had been employed as an Engineer with Fiat-Allis, retiring in 1981. He moved from Highland Park to the Woodstock area in 1983, turning his energy toward tree farming, especially black walnuts. Mr. Haskins was an active member of the Community Church of Richmond. He was an accomplished woodsman, sawyer, woodworker & woodturner, tree farmer, builder & craftsman, aviation enthusiast, competitive sailor, canoeist, adventurer, surveyor, designer & draftsman, pianist, business owner, investment manager, and so much more. Most importantly, he was a loving and devout husband, father, and servant of the Lord.

He deeply loved his family, cherished his dogs, was a life-long fan of the Chicago Cubs, enjoyed all activities outdoors, and admired all of God's Creation. He especially loved the Northwoods of Wisconsin and spent as much time as he could there with his family on getaway vacations. He will be so dearly missed by many.

He is survived by his wife, Grace Haskins; his children, Mary (Michael) Wilkins, Linda (Timothy) Davidson, Cynthia (Robert) Birnberg, W. Scott (Pamela) Haskins, Constance (Albert) Simpson, Keith (Dena) Haskins; step children, James (Jeanette) Vyduna, Joy (Peter) Shaw, Judy (Matthew) Krueger; twenty grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

I worked with Bob when I was a Co-Op Student at Fiat-Allis and not only did he help me learn all the stuff I was supposed to - he showed me how it was possible to enjoy life everyday.
