Ronald Wayne Fredricksen, age 87, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022. Ron was born in Chicago on November 6, 1934 to J. Ivar and Hilma Marie (Larsen) Fredricksen. They raised their two children, Elaine and Ron, in Wonder Lake, Illinois. Ron attended elementary school at The Harrison Country School and was fortunate to attend high school at Northwestern Military Academy in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Upon graduation, he enrolled at Purdue University after which he enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Hawaii. After completing his military obligation, Ron returned to Wonder Lake and worked in the construction industry with his father, building many area churches, schools and homes before pivoting into the restaurant industry. Wonder Lake's Rolaine Grill was named for Ron and his sister Elaine. In 1964 Ron became a Burger King franchisee, eventually owning 4 stores. In 1985 he retired to the Florida Keys but returned to the Midwest to be closer to family.
He is survived by his five children, Richard (Donna) Fredricksen, Jean (Steve) Cassidy, Jill (Chuck) Doty, Jan (Chris) Budris, Kristen (Paul) Skordilis; 14 Grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 3 nieces, 1 nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents Ivar & Hilma, sister Elaine Freund, nephew Guy Justen and grandson Voss Christian Skordilis.
We will be celebrating the life of our beloved "Grandpa Fuzzy" at a private family service.
