Ruben Mendiola Obituary
He was born Jan. 27, 1930, in Laredo, Texas, to Jose Sr. Mendiola and Cruz Maldonado. He married Hilda Flores from Monterrey, Mexico.
Mr. Mendiola was a musician; he played in many places in downtown Chicago with his orchestra, Tropical Mexico, in the early 1960s and 1970s. He also had worked as a computer technician for small business and fixing musical instruments. He retired and enjoyed cooking, garage sales, fixing anything, but he loved his music and his grandchildren most.
He is survived by his wife, Hilda; two brothers, Alfonso and Fernando of Laredo, Texas; his children, Ruben Jr., Jose Eloy, Ivonne, Sandra, Hilda, Maria, Maricruz, Karina and Patricia; and all of his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mario and Joe; and a sister, Yolanda.
The memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, at Cary United Methodist Church, 500 N. First St., Cary.
