Russell Dean, age 75 and a lifelong resident of Island Lake, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Russ was preceded in death by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 55 years, Diane Dean, daughter Tammy Dean, brother Michael Dean, father Russell Dean and mother Virginia Dean.
Russ was a man of faith and family. His roles as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and loyal friend defined his existence and brought great joy to everyone who knew him.
Russ was an owner operator of Russ Dean and Son Trucking for over 40 years. He was known as a generous, kind and compassionate soul. He loved the simple things in life, such as being the captain of his boat while blasting vintage country music and soaking in the bright sunshine. One of his favorite pastimes was watching old western movies. His backyard pool was open to anyone who wanted to join in frequent family gatherings and weekend cookouts. In addition to family and friends, he was equally generous and kind to his neighbors, snowplowing their driveways to keep them safe from falling. Russ attended Wauconda area schools as a child and carried many of those friendships with him throughout his life. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose.
Left to cherish his memory are his son Danny Dean (Catalina), his beloved grandchildren, Nicholas and Katia Dean, his sisters and best friends Ginny Williams (Denny Longnecker), Patti Roberts, Peggy Dean, Sue Dean and Cindy Lehnert along with many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 7, 2024, from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Kisselburg-Wauconda Funeral Home, 235 North Main Street, Wauconda, IL 60084.
On Monday, January 8, 2024, a short prayer service will take place at the funeral home at 11:30 am. Interment will follow at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
