Sandra Ann "Sandy" Jackson, 88, of Woodstock, IL passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, in hospice care following a brief battle with cancer.
Born on May 1, 1937, in Woodstock, IL to Donald "Dutch" and Leona Leonard (Wood). Sandy was a lifelong resident of the community she loved. She was a proud graduate of St. Mary's High School in Woodstock IL, class of 1954. Following graduation, Sandy began her career soaring the skies as a flight attendant for North Central Airlines. Her adventurous spirit and eye for beauty later found expression in her passion for interior design and home decorating, which she pursued with joy and creativity. Sandy was a sports enthusiast. She took great joy in watching her kids and grandkids participate in various sports through their middle school and high school years and was a devoted follower of the Chicago Cubs.
Sandy was preceded in death by her beloved husband for 56 years, James P. Jackson, Sr. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, generosity, and love. Sandy was known for opening her home – and her heart – to children in need, especially during the holiday season, creating lasting memories and offering comfort to those who needed it most.
She is survived by her devoted children: James Jackson, Jr of Woodstock, IL, Michael Jackson of St. Charles, IL, Lisa Jackson Van Slyke of Atlanta, GA, Kathy Jackson (Joe) Schweder of Woodstock, IL, and Jay (Jackie) Jackson of St. Charles, IL. Sandy was a cherished grandmother to eleven grandchildren: Katherine Jackson (Josh) Shook, Kelly Jackson (Alex) Gallagher, Daniel Jackson, Griffin Jackson, Jackson Van Slyke, Maddie Van Slyke, Joseph Schweder, Jr, Sam Schweder, Grace Jackson, Jacob Jackson, and Savannah Jackson. Her legacy continues through her to great-grandchildren, Benjamin Shook and Harper Gallagher.
A Catholic mass celebrating Sandy's life will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025 at 10 am at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2302 West Church Street in Johnsburg, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Sandy's grace, generosity, and unwavering love will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
