Terrence "Terry" Scott Bourke, age 57, of Island Lake, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 surrounded by his loving family after battling cancer for 7 years.
Terry was born in Park Ridge, Illinois on September 7, 1963, growing up in Island Lake, IL to Robert C. and Jeanne (Miller) Bourke. He graduated from McHenry East High School in 1981, after a happy childhood filled with baseball, bowling, swimming, ice skating, sledding, and dirt biking with his family and friends.
Terry attended McHenry County College, and then worked for Hines Lumber as a truck driver and member of the Teamsters Union. He then became a truckdriver and water salesman, spending the past 20 years with Nestle Water.
Terry loved dogs. His dogs Danny and Darrell were his kids. His customers' dogs loved him too. He would bring them treats with every visit.
He also loved feeding the wild birds, ducks, and geese who would visit his backyard. He loved gardening and landscaping.
Terry was on a bowling league at 3D Bowl for over 30 years. Terry was well known for his love of music and singing karaoke with his friends.
Terry was very generous and helpful to his family and friends. He was god-father to several of his friends' sons, and was a second father to his nephews. He loved to grill, cook, and bake for family and friends.
Terry loved baseball. He played softball as an adult, and was a lifelong Cubs fan. He enjoyed Bears game parties with his friends.
Terry loved history and enjoyed going to the movies every week. He loved going out to breakfast and lunch with family and friends. His favorite outing was a trip to Menards, including their Black Friday event.
Terry was preceded in death by his father, Robert C. Bourke and his grandparents Helen and Henry Miller, Betty Staulcup and Robert M. Burke.
Terry is survived by his mom, Jeanne Bourke; sisters: Bonnie Rudolph, and Mandy(the late Dave)Osborne; brother, Tim (Anissa) Bourke; and brother-in-law, John Rudolph; nephews: John Rudolph Jr., Jim Rudolph, Jeff Osborne, Bob Osborne, and Sean Bourke; niece-in-law, Michelle Anderson; and great niece, Avis Joy Rudolph. He is also survived by many dear friends that he has cherished since childhood.
Terry is gone way too soon. We deeply loved Terry and will miss him dearly.
A Visitation for Terry will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, from 4-8 P.M., at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry. A Funeral Service will be held at 7 P.M., in the Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will continue at the Funeral Home on Wednesday morning, April 7, 2021, from 10 – 11 A.M. Interment will follow in Windridge Memorial Park in Cary.
In following with the CDC Covid 19 recommendations and the Illinois mandates, only 50 people will be allowed within the funeral home facilities at a single time and all attendees must have a face mask or face covering on prior to entering the facility.
