Theodore Schweder Obituary

Theodore D. Schweder

Born: July 24, 1935; in McHenry, IL

Died: January 30, 2017; in McHenry, IL

Theodore D. Schweder, age 81, of McHenry, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Theodore was born July 24, 1935, to the late Daniel E. and Aurelia M. (Breivogel) Schweder. On November 24, 1956, he married the love of his life, Shirley Diedrichs at Our Lady of Grace, in Chicago.

Theodore enjoyed reading, playing golf, and "doing lunch" with his family and friends. He was a true family man, and would give up anything to spend time with them. A recent highlight was celebrating his 60th Wedding Anniversary with his wife and all of their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in attendance Thanksgiving Day. He helped lead many parish fundraisers at St. Patrick Catholic Church: Town and Country and Montini Bingo, to name a few. He also was Cub Scout Leader of Pack 351. A longtime employee of Temple Steel Company, Theodore went on to open his own steel lamination business, PSW Industries. He invested in many McHenry real estate ventures including various retail establishments and apartment complexes.

Theodore is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley; children, Gary (Cynthia) Schweder, of McHenry, Paul (Karin Rada) Schweder, of Cape Coral, FL, James (Brenda) Schweder, of Waukesha, WI, and Lori (Mike) Mazrin, of McHenry; grandchildren, Gary (Emily) Schweder, Jake (Natosha) Schweder, Sarah (Kyle) Kanzler, Nicki (Rafael) Perez, Joshua Mazrin, Teddy Mazrin, Michael Mazrin, James Schweder and Liam Schweder; and great-grandchildren, Bella, Maddy, and Lianna Perez, Aurelia and Maci Rose Schweder, and Lilyan Kanzler. He is further survived by his siblings, Jack (Anne) Schweder, of McHenry, and Gail (John) Powers, of McHenry; and sister-in-law, Joanne (Schweder) Burton, of Sharon, WI.

In addition to his parents, Theodore was preceded in death by his son, Teddy Schweder, Jr.; and brother, Robert E. Schweder.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, February 5, 2017, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Colonial Funeral Home & Crematory, 591 Ridgeview Dr., McHenry, IL. Mass will be held at 11:30am on Monday, February 6, 2017, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 3500 Washington St., McHenry. Interment will be private.

Just like to send my condolences to the family of Ted. He was a great guy! I will always remember him when I play golf at the many courses he set up for our Thursday golf league (The Legends). He was a friend to us all. I will miss him.

Ted was a good friend and served our Thursday Golf Group for many years. He interviewed various golf course pros in the N-W Suburbs for the best prices and emailed us all the time with information. He made the golf events work and work well. We sure do appreciate his good work and will miss "the man" who did so much for us. God bless his soul and his family with peace that only HE can provide. Miss you Ted! Jerry

I have known Ted for years through the Thursday golf league he ran. Conversations with him were easy, thoughtful, and on a variety of subjects. Golf, family, hunting, fishing and yes politics. His unique wit and sarcasm had us chuckling many times, whether on the course or on the phone. Friends like him was like making a "Hole In One",which I was with him when he had one at Glendale Lakes; are treasures in life to cherish through the years.Ted will be missed by us guys standing at the course entrance, collecting fees, and giving lighthearted lip to us as we arrived.Ill still be looking for him there. He will be missed.
