Tom called Crystal Lake home most of his life, graduating from Crystal Lake Community High School. Work took him to San Deigo, CA for 5 years before returning to Crystal Lake. On September 3, 1960, he married Jaqueline "Jackie" Vlcek in Crystal Lake. Jackie was not only his wife, she was his companion and best friend, celebrating 58 years of marriage.

Starting in his early teens, Tom helped his dad build boats at Boe-Craft Boat Co. in Crystal Lake, IL. They enjoyed racing their ice boats on Lake Geneva, WI. Later he worked in manufacturing as a toolmaker and a tool engineer, creating TAB Design Services Inc. He founded Lincoln Abrasives Corporation, which manufactured abrasive grinding wheels for over 30 years. He moved to San Diego, CA, where he was a co-founder of California Industries for 5 years before returning to Crystal Lake. Tom then shifted gears and entered the financial services field. In 2006 he founded TAB Financial Services, Inc., providing financial services, especially to the senior market. Tom thoroughly enjoyed helping people. Fishing was a favorite pastime that he shared with his children, grandchildren, and friends. Golf was another favorite hobby. He was a member of the Crystal Lake Country Club for 25 years. Many wonderful memories were shared on the links. Traveling and spending time with Jackie and their beloved dog, Annie Grace, was precious time. Tom treasured time spent with his grandchildren. There was always room on his lap.
Tom "Grampa" had a quick wit and a great sense of humor and there was always bantering going around. Tom loved to eat out at the many local dining establishments in Crystal Lake. He would talk to anyone and everyone. A special thanks to all who extended kindness to Tom. Most importantly, Tom had an unwavering faith in the Lord.
