Thomas Janik Obituary

Thomas 'Tom' Andrew Janik
Thomas "Tom" Andrew Janik, age 73, passed away on January 15, 2026, at home in Fort Myers, Florida.
Tom was a man of strong Christian faith who found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. He loved working with his hands through carpentry, spending time on the golf course, traveling – especially on cruises – reading, and, most of all, being with his family. He was a loving husband, devoted father, proud papa, caring brother, and cherished uncle whose presence will be deeply missed.
Born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in McHenry, Illinois, Tom graduated from McHenry High School in 1970. He went on to attend Eastern Illinois University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business in 1974. With dedication, skill, and entrepreneurial spirit, Tom founded Janik Construction Co., a business through which he built and remodeled custom homes throughout McHenry County. His work reflected his integrity, craftsmanship, and pride in doing things the right way.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Sara (Richards) Janik; his children, Josh Janik, Ben Janik, and Jamie (Nicholas) Accettura; his siblings, Michael Janik and Linda Kalas; and his five treasured grandsons, Elijah Janik, Luke Janik, Andrew Janik, Nicholas Accettura IV, and Thomas Accettura.
Tom's legacy lives on through the homes he built, the faith he lived by, and the love he shared so freely with his family and friends.

I was friends with Tom and his brother Mike back in high school. We had lots of great times back then. They came from a great family for sure. Tom tried valiantly to teach me how to hit a curve ball. (That never happened). I have some great memories of him and sports and their family. Sorry for your loss.
