Wayne M. "Chic" Tegtman, 88, of Hampshire passed away peacefully Monday, January 4, 2016, at Sunrise in Crystal Lake with his family by his side.
He was born in Charles City, Iowa on April 18, 1926, the son of George and Minnie (Yocum) Tegtman.Chic left school early to help on the family farm until he was drafted into the Navy during WWII and was stationed in Guam. After returning, he met and married Rosemary Cramsey in Feb. of 1949 and they settled in Hampshire where they raised their 7 children.
He worked at the Country Delight milk factory in Hampshire retiring in 1988. Chic also worked for many years at Gustafson's gas station in Hampshire pumping gas. After his retirement he worked for John Freund at the Marengo Funeral Home driving the families, a job that he loved. Chic was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and will always be remembered for his wonderful smile and happy disposition. He will be deeply missed by all.
Chic is survived by his loving children, Donna Rabe, Deborah (Paul) Crawford, Doug (Janna), Daniel "Boone", Denise (Tim) Hoopes, Diane (Tom) Schiffer and Dale (Claire); grandchildren, Brett (Jodi) Ferguson, Cara Ferguson, Justin Dvorin, Jason Crawford, Sam (Danielle) Tegtman, Peter and Marthe Tegtman, Nate Tegtman, Erin Hoopes, Andy, Katie and Sarah Schiffer, Luke, Ellie and Nick Tegtman; and 6 great-grandchildren; sister in law, Ada Tegtman, brother in law, Dave Walker and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 62 yrs, Rosemary on Feb. 17, 2012; granddaughter, Amy Ferguson; 3 brothers; 7 sisters; and many in laws.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Sat., Jan. 9 at 11 am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 297 E. Jefferson Ave, Hampshire. Burial will follow in the St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, Jan. 8, 2016 from 3 to 7 pm at the church.

We never had the opportunity to meet Chic, but LOVE his son Dale, so we are sure we would love him too! Dale, Clair, Luke, Nick & Ellie (and families) we are so very sorry for your loss.
