Ann C. Stepanian, nee Hearne, age 63, of Dyer, Ind., formerly of Dolton, Ill., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family Friday, May 2, 2025. Loving wife of Brian Stepanian. Devoted mother of Ben Stepanian, John (Kelly) Stepanian, Megan (Brett) Stepanian, Sally Stepanian, and Katherine Stepanian. Cherished grandma of Mila, Finley, and future baby Stepanian. Precious daughter of Elizabeth L. "Betty" and the late Robert P. "Bob" Hearne Sr. Dearest sister of Bob (Christine) Hearne, Patrick (Maureen) Hearne, and Tim Hearne. Kind aunt of many nieces, nephews, and beloved cousins.
Ann was truly loved by her family and many friends and will be dearly missed.
Visitation Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 3 to 8 p.m. Prayer service Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., with Deacon Gary Blue officiating at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.), Dyer, Ind. I had the pleasure of working with Ann for 15 years at Republic Services. It was just yesterday that I learned of her passing. She was one of sweetest people I knew. Ann would always praise me for going above & beyond. I would try to resolve customer issues so she didn't get bothered. She was a great mentor and friend.My condolences to her family & friends. May she rest in eternal peace. ❤

Ann was my contact for years at Republic, and I truly appreciated the personal care she gave us. No request was too difficult, and I always knew that if I could just talk to Ann, she would figure things out and fix any issue that came up. She was exceptionally kind, efficient, and a joy to talk to. May God give grace and comfort to her precious family and loved ones in these days ahead.

I knew Ann as a parent of several beautiful children attending Bibich Elementary School in Dyer. She was a great volunteer and always very pleasant. May God bring peace and understanding to her family.

Brian and family,
We are so saddened to learn of Ann's passing. We will always cherish the fond memories of her welcoming us to the neighborhood. Although our time as neighbors was short, it was apparent how she truly enjoyed family gatherings.

I believe I speak for many of us who grew up alongside your family when I say that the best memories of my childhood were shaped by Ann’s incredible warmth, her love of gathering people, and her gift for making everyone feel at home. I will always cherish the countless moments shared with her and the Stepanian family—whether it was fishing and tubing up at the cottage, the legendary fish fries, or the always-unforgettable Fourth of July celebrations.
Thank you, Ann, for the joy, generosity, and lasting memories you gave me. You will be forever remembered and deeply missed.

Ann was a long time friend of ours who was as nice a person and as easy to get along with as you would want in a friend Out going smiley and true she was a pleasure to be around With Brian the two of them made a great life and family together and anyone that knew her and them loved to be around them God bless you Ann you will be missed terribly for now you Rest in Peace and the rest of us will see you down the road ❤

Ann was my friend since Grade School. We always hung out at Ann’s house. Betty and Bob were the absolute best people!
Throughout the many years of life, we always kept in touch and saw each other. Ann, Theresa, Jane and I were the “Fearsome Foursome”! Ann was the truest friend you could have. I will miss her dearly My love to Betty, Brian, Ann’s children and grandchildren

Dear Stepanian family,
Stella and I want to express our sincere condolences on Ann's passing. Ann was a real friend and a wonderful neighbor. Two specific instances come to mind although there were many. Ann was among the first people to come to our aid when our sump pump failed and our basement flooded. Also, when I was changing occupation, she organized a bunch of neighbors and friends to attend a seminar I was hosting. Ann was just that kind of person. She always thought of others.
May her memory be eternal and may she rest in peace.
