ANTHONY "TONY" SPELDE, SR. MERRILLVILLE, IN
Anthony "Tony" Spelde, Sr., age 85 of Crown Point; formerly of Merrillville, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013. Survived by wife, Florence (nee Statema) of 61 years; four children: Sharon (Gary) Shackleton of Dyer, Tony (Emily) Spelde, Jr. of Indianapolis, Ed (Susan) Spelde of Valparaiso, Dave (Lori) Spelde of AZ; 12 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother, William (Mary Ann) Spelde of Crete, IL; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents: Berend and Sadie Spelde; two sisters: Grace Santeford and Marie Mudd; and brother, Berend Spelde. Mr. Spelde was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Crown Point and was a Sunday School teacher for 35 years. Tony was a graduate of Thornton High School, a retired millwright from Taft Contracting in Chicago with 40 years of service, and a member of the Carpenters Union. Tony was an avid fisherman and a World War II Navy veteran. Family and friends may call at Pruzin & Little Funeral Service (811 E. Franciscan Dr., Crown Point) on Wednesday from 3:00-7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. DIRECTLY from Trinity Evangelical Lutheran (250 S. Indiana Ave., Crown Point) with Rev. David Kipp officiating. There will be visitation half hour prior to services at church. At rest Oak Ridge Cemetery, Lansing, IL. Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Ladies Aid.
