Anthony Zendian Obituary

Anthony Zendian

June 18, 1928 - August 22, 2025

Anthony Zendian, age 97, of Schererville, IN, of Calumet City, IL, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025, in Merrillville, IN.

Born June 18, 1928, to Anton and Bernice (née Spyro) Zendzian, Anthony was a devoted family man, Coast Guard veteran who served in WWII, and retiree of Rand McNally.

He is survived by his sister, Evelyn Brewer; children, Timothy (Karen) and Toni; grandchildren, Jamie, Megan (Rick), Anthony, and Nicole; and great-grandchild, Rylee. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Rita (née Rucinski) Zendian.

Anthony was a lifelong member of St. Andrew's Church in Calumet City, where he served as Vice President of the Senior Sunshine Club for ten years. He enjoyed fishing, yard work, sweets, and a hot cup of coffee. Known for his kind heart and quiet strength, Anthony stepped up as a child to help raise his siblings after his father's passing, an early sign of the selflessness that defined his life.
