Betty Jean Winchell

Betty Jean Winchell, 93, of Dyer, Indiana passed away peacefully on Friday, February 13th, 2026. She was the best mom ever to her three children, Donald (Rita) Winchell, Jr., Linda (Mike) Pieters, and Kim (John) Jamicich. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and two great-great -grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Edna, her sister, Sandra Ostroski, her beloved husband, Donald Winchell, Sr., her grandson, Adrian Joseph Winchell Pieters, and her great-grandson, Daniel Lee Winchell, Jr. Betty was a woman of great faith and served for many years on Altar Guild at her church, St. Paul's Lutheran in Munster, Indiana. She loved to travel, especially camping, and she was known by all for her

love of games, often fondly referred to as "Mean Betty Jean" because of her competitive nature. Her family was the most important thing to her, and she will be remembered for her unwavering love and devotion. She will be greatly missed by all.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 18th, 2026 at Burns-Kish Funeral Home, 8415 Calumet Ave.,Munster, Indiana from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 19th, 2026 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8601 Harrison Ave., Munster, Indiana. There will be a visitation at10:30 followed by the service at 11 a.m. and burial at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens,8178 S Cline Ave., Crown Point, Indiana.
