Billie "Bill" Tabler
May 1, 1933 - Nov 19, 2025
Billie "Bill" Tabler, 92 of Fishers, Ind., passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. He was born May 1, 1933, at home in Kouts, Ind., to the late Jay and Hazel (Cooper) Tabler. Bill graduated from Kouts High School class of 1952, and earned a degree from Purdue University Northwest. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, where he attained the rank of Seargeant, and was stationed in Japan working on airplanes. Bill made his career with McGill's Manufacturing for 38 years in management. Following his retirement from McGill's, Bill decided he wasn't ready to leave the workforce and earned the role of Plant Manager for Girtz Industries in Monticello, Ind., for 10 years. While living in Monticello, Bill enjoyed cruising around the lake in the boat with his family. He also had an affinity for fishing, making fly rods, fishing rods, and tying flies - often gifting his handmade treasures to friends and family members. Retreating to his cabin on the Kankakee River for hunting, fishing, and bonding with his family was time well spent for Bill. He had fun playing golf with his sons, especially when he made a hole in one. Bill had been an active member of the Kouts Christian Church, where he had taught Sunday School, served as a Deacon and Elder, and even helped build the church. Bill was extraordinarily smart and talented in countless ways, and passed many of these traits on to his beloved children. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.
On December 1, 1956, in Valparaiso, Bill married Karen Swynenberg, who preceded him in death in 2020. He is survived by their children, Tim Tabler of Tucson, Ariz., Tammy Nichols of Fishers, Ind., and Scott (Peggy) Tabler of Suwanee, Ga.; grandchildren, Quinn and Reese Tabler, Hannah (Joe) Doku, and Samuel Nichols; great-grandchildren, Mea Doku, and Nevaeh and Remi Nichols; and siblings, Jack Tabler and Cheryl Lang. He was preceded in death by siblings, Dick Tabler, Margie Kinne, Rex Tabler, Jim Tabler, Gene Tabler, and Barb Zeiters.
A private family service will be held with burial at Graceland Cemetery, Kouts. Memorial donations may be made in Bill's name to the Kouts Christian Church, 208 S. Poland Ave., Kouts, IN 46347.
