Carol Rusbasan Obituary

Carol A. Rusbasan

Oct 13, 1945 - Jan 13, 2025

As she often did in a winning round of Bunco, on January 13, 2025 with the high score of 79 years of a life well played, Carol A. Rusbasan won the ultimate prize of eternal life with her Lord and Creator.

Born on October 13, 1945 in Gary, Indiana to Rose and Edward Waite. The oldest of four children, Carol was great company and a playmate to her siblings. She met William "Bill" Rusbasan and they were married for 50 years. Carol was a longtime and faithful member of Holy Martyrs Catholic Church; formerly St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, where she was a funeral luncheon coordinator. She would always bake her chocolate cherry cake, which would cause her children to inquire as to who had died. Carol enjoyed her monthly Bunco club and spending time with her family and friends. She loved talking to people, as long as it was after 1pm and would strike up a conversation with anyone, even a complete stranger. Carol liked to shop and search for bargains. She loved to coordinate her outfits and accessories. Carol was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren. She was a fan of bingo and was a member of her bunco club for nearly 45 years.

Carol will be remembered and loved by her three children: daughter, Sister Gayle Rusbasan O.S.F and two sons: Michael (Angie) Rusbasan & David (Hillary) Rusbasan; six grandchildren: Landen, Evan, Brian, Morgan, Logan, & Cameron; siblings: Dennis (Linda) Waite, Jan (Tom) Rusbasan & June (late Allan) Bennett; and her nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Rusbasan; daughter, Angel Rusbasan; and parents: Edward & Rose Waite.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Geisen-Pruzin Funeral & Cremation Services, 6360 Broadway, Merrillville, IN 46410 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A prayer service will be held at 4 pm.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Holy Martyrs Catholic Church, 801 W. 73rd Ave. Merrillville, IN 46410 with Rev. Ted Mauch officiating.
