GRIFFITH, IN - Carolyn Anne Grugel (nee Bailey), 88, of Griffith, IN, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Ignite Medical Resort in Dyer, IN. She is preceded in death by her former husband, Robert L. Grugel; parents, Arnold and Helen Bailey; and brother, Kenneth. She is survived by her sister,Margaret"Marge" (James) Leeper; and her partner, Howard Droba.

Carolyn was born in Gary, IN and attended Tolleston High School, class of 1953. She graduatedfrom Indiana University, Northwest, with majors in education and music. Carolyn continued her music education specializing in piano and the organ under the direction of Dwight Davis, City United Methodist Church, Gary, IN. Her music gifts continued with teaching privately to both children and adults. She also served as organist to several community churches. She served for 23 years as the primary organist at First United Methodist Church in Griffith. She was also a member of the American Guild of Organists.
