CAROLYN R. SCHULTE KOUTS, IN
Carolyn R. Schulte, age 76, of Kouts, IN, passed away, at home, Sunday, November 16, 2014 with her family by her side. Born April 22, 1938 to Lee V. and Leona I. Johnson in New Goshen, IN. Carol attended Indiana State Teachers College in Terre Haute, IN and upon completion, moved to Merrillville, IN, where she began her teaching career and began a 55 year love affair with the love of her life, Robert G. Schulte, who survives. Carol and Bob married September 4, 1965 and celebrated 49 years in September. She continued to teach in Merrillville and Hammond, IN and started a family. Bob and Carol had three children: Richard A. (Carole) of Laporte, Rebecca A. (Sean) Bell of Hebron, and Robert L. (Shelley) of Kouts. She was a dedicated mother and wife and put her family above all, taking a break from teaching to raise their children. She completed her Master's Degree in Education at Indiana University Northwest and returned to teaching at Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson Schools in Valparaiso, retiring in 1985. She was the co-owner/bookkeeper of Schulte Landscaping from 1976 to 2009. Carol was a longtime member of St. Helen Catholic Church. Upon Bob's retirement, Carol and Bob enjoyed travelling, spending their winters in Florida, where they had many friends. Carol was a gifted and artistic soul and continued to amaze her family with the projects she completed. She loved spending time with her grandchildren: Laura, Madison, Patrick, Evan, Nick, Cooper, and Greg, and will be missed by all who knew her. Carol was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Geisen Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 624 N. Main St., Hebron, IN from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, November 20, 2014 directly at church from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. A Rosary Service will be held Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at St. Helen Catholic Church, 302 N. Madison St, Hebron, IN 46341 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Derrick Dudash officiating. Interment will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Kouts, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Helen Catholic Church Building Fund, 302 N. Madison St, Hebron, IN 46341.
