Carolyn Clare Sojka (nee Fetsch) age 86 of Crown Point, IN formerly of East Chicago, IN passed away on December 10th, 2025.
Carolyn is survived by her children; Peter (Terry) Sojka, Michelle (Late Jim) Burnham, Andrew (Melanie) Sojka; 7 grandchildren, Emily Sojka, Luke, Zack, and Matthew Ossanna, Grace, Carley and Drew Sojka.
Carolyn was proceeded in death by her parents, Joseph and Matilda Fetsch; Daughter, Maria (Christopher) Ossanna; Son, Paul Sojka; Former husband, Ed Sojka, and dear friend, Gloria Smokvina.
Carolyn was born in East Chicago, IN. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School, class of 1957, and then earned RN degree from St. Margaret's Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1960. Carolyn after college was an active leader with Alumni association for over 40 years. She worked at St. Catherine's Hospital in the pediatric department, and as a school nurse for the East Chicago public schools.
Carolyn was a member of St. Michael's Church in Schererville, IN and St. Catherine of Sienna in Hammond, IN.
Carolyn enjoyed spending time at her cottage in Colon, Michigan. Where countless hours were spent outdoors boating, gardening, cutting grass and completing projects on a never-ending list. Grandkids summers were filled with water activities and nighttime campfires. On rainy days the kids played board games and visited the local markets and discovered life without internet and television.
In retirement Carolyn enjoyed traveling with her best friend, Gloria to many destinations in the United States and abroad. She maintained many lifelong friendships. She loved to entertain at her house, hosting birthday parties and holidays and her home will be missed by friends and family.
Friends may visit with the family Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th, Crown Point, IN 46307 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., with a prayer service, and NWI Nursing Honor Guard.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 22, 2025, DIRECTLY at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 1 W. Wilhelm St, Schererville, IN 46375.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Carolyn's name to Hospice of the Calumet Area.

Carolyn and I attended eight years together at St. Mary's School in East Chicago. Along with Marlene Vukovich we were a trio to reckon with. We ran into each other from time to time over the years and ended up living a half mile away from each other. A beautiful life come to an earthly end. Be with God, Carolyn.
