VALPARAISO, IN - Cassie L. Hunt, 87, of Valparaiso, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2024.
He was born March 26, 1936, in Clay City, IL, to Adam Cassie and Delores (Smith) Hunt. A Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Cassie retired from NIPSCO where he worked as a gas serviceman for 36 years. He was an avid long-distance bicyclist, riding up to 80 miles a day at age 85.
Cassie is survived by his children: Gregory (Leah) Cassie Hunt, Dawn Hunt, and Beth Hunt; grandchildren: Gregory, Jennifer, Seth (Emma), Joshua, and Lucas; companion, Arlene Gawrys; siblings: Beverly Gadd, Richard (Debbie) Hunt, Don (Candy) Hunt, Pam (Art) White, Barry Hunt, Randy (Debbie) Hunt, and Barbara (Mike) Kotys; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Edrie; and grandson, Brandon.
A visitation will be held February 17, 2024, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at MOELLER FUNERAL HOME, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a funeral service beginning at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Make a Wish Foundation or The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society.

Sorry to hear of his passing. Happy to have known him and was a inspiration to me in the bike club. Enjoyed many a ride with him locally and enjoyed his company going to the hilly hundred many years together. He was always hoping to get the award for oldest Rider ,! Came close but never got it. I enjoyed those times together with him.
