Charles "Chuck" Coddington

February 1, 1931 - June 2, 2023

Charles "Chuck" Coddington, age 92, passed away Friday, June 2, 2023 in Fort Wayne, IN. Born in Smock, PA to the late Charles Coddington and Agnes (Joe) Prescott. Chuck proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army. Chuck had many jobs throughout his life, but was most proud of the work he did as an educator. He was called to be a teacher and later a principal at several Catholic schools including St. Mary's in Griffith and St. Thomas More in Munster. He was a multi-sport athlete in school and played a season on a football scholarship at Chattanooga and Quincy College. He was also president of his class at Bishop Noll. He was a lifelong fan of Notre Dame football. An athlete throughout his life, he ran 5 full marathons, including Chicago. He is survived by his wife, Irma Coddington of Huntertown, IN: children, Dawn Hilbrich, Kevin, Terry, Greg (Jody), Chuck, and Jeff Coddington. Step children JoAnn, Robert, Kenny, Aileen, and Kevin. Grandchildren Eric, Jennifer, Christina, Michael, Emily, Matthew, Adam, Tyler, Billy, and Sydney and many step grandkids and great grandkids. Friends and family will gather at St Marys Hildebrandt Hall, 525 N Lafayette St, Griffith, IN on Saturday September 9th from 12-4pm. I remember our days working together at the General Mills South Chicago plant. Chuck was a real nice guy and a pleasure to be around. He was so full of pep and energy, he could out work people half his age. Chuck, you will be missed and never forgotten. Godspeed!
