Zachary Whitehurst Obituary
Zachary is survived by his Father, Scott Whitehurst and Mother, Angela Neal both of Rocky Mount; maternal grandparents, Jimmy Neal of Washington, NC and Glenda Neal of Rocky Mount; paternal grandparents, Gordon and Helen Whitehurst of Rocky Mount; Uncle, Robert Whitehurst; Aunt, Julie Whitehurst, cousins, Sara and Taylor Whitehurst all of Rocky Mount; Aunt, Shannon Neal; cousin, Jasmine Neal both of Rocky Mount; Uncle Scotty Williams; Aunt, Michelle Williams; cousins, Emily and Austin Williams; Uncle, Donnie Frazier; Aunt, Lisa Frazier; cousins, Kasey, Blake, and Caroline Frazier; great grandmother, Margie Wilbourne of Bailey.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Johnson Funerals and Cremations on English Road. Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday, October 18, 2010 in Johnson's Chapel with Rev. Steve Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.

I remember Scott as a young boy when I used to work with Gordon at A&P. My prayers go out to the entirety of the family. May go pull you up close and let you lean back and rest on him.

Angel & Scott,
My heart goes out to you both. Zach was such a great kid. I had lots of fun with him each and every time we went anywhere together. Especially our "date" as he called it when I took him to Applebees and we sat at the bar. He was only around 13 and ordered himself a virgin drink and said he was "the bomb". I enjoyed every minute I ever spent with him and I know you both and your families did as well and will miss him terribly. He touched the lives of so many in a positive way during his lifetime. He will be missed by all that knew him. I am so sorry I couldn't get there. Angel, if you need an ear to listen at any time, I'm a phone call away. Love you girl.

I am very sorry for your loss in Zach. I know how highly you talked of him at work back in the day at Merck. My oldest daughter just turned 18 yesterday and I just can't imagine the grief you are feeling at this time. All I know is our hopes and prayers are within GOD and he will surely see you through. Captain and my son were friends and hung out together, and my son says he is the reason he passed biology. He always knew how to make everyone around him laugh. I did not know Zachary but my cousin's daughter did and her heart is broken. As a mother, my heart goes out to all at the loss of this young man. I pray God give each and everyone the strength and comfort only he can give to make it through.
