Dale Fisher Obituary

Dale Allen Fisher

October 27, 1940 - June 20, 2024

In Loving Memory of Dale Allen Fisher.

Dale Allen Fisher, 83, passed away unexpectedly on June 20, 2024. Born on October 27, 1940, in Hammond, Indiana to Allen and Mildred Fisher. Dale lived a life full of passion and many accomplishments; beginning with failing only a single merit badge short of making Eagle Scout (he blamed the neighbor's daughter).

After graduating from Hobart High School, Dale joined the Air Force but was discharged due to medical issues. He then began an illustrious 50 year career in the steel industry at US Steel in Indiana, becoming the first non-college graduate to be promoted to management at Gary Works. From very early on, Dale was focused on achieving success. To support his growing family, he took on an additional job selling encyclopedias door-to-door. His hard work paid off as he earned several sales awards and broke the national single day sales record. Dale took his knowledge of steel and his natural gift for sales to his next job at Century Steel where he ran the purchasing department for nearly 30 years. Dale's next great career accomplishment was founding Mako Metals with two of his sons, Mark and Jeff. Mako went on an incredible 20 year run of success under Dale's stewardship. After retiring, Dale moved to Naples, Florida where he made many new friends and was known as "a party waiting to happen" and "Flash".

Dale was generous to a fault, always helping those around him. He was well known among the many valets, doormen and restaurant hosts that crossed his path over the years. Dale supported the Boy Scouts of America with pride, transforming their annual Metals Industry show in Chicago into a major entertainment and fund raising event.

An avid golfer, Dale was a longtime member of Olympia Fields Country Club and La Playa Beach and Golf Resort. He enjoyed the arts, boating, traveling to California and New York, walking his dogs and fine food and wine. Dale lived life in a big way and often mentioned that the song "Take it to the Limit" was his theme song. He loved all types of music from Buddy Holly and the Righteous Brothers, to Motown, Jonny Mathis and the Eagles. Dale had the unique ability to make everyone feel comfortable. He would embrace you with his smile and his generosity. He was loved.

Dale is survived by the mother of his children, Judith and former wives Terrie and Gail, his children David, Mark (Marisol), and Jeffrey; his sisters Donna Courtney (Lee) and Diane Cooley; his grandchildren, Julia, Jeffrey, Will, and Sofia. Dale is also remembered fondly by his extended family and friends.

A private memorial service to celebrate Dale's life will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Boy Scouts of America. https://donations.scouting.org/#/national.

He will be greatly missed but will live on in our hearts and memories.

Dale was one of the most unique and memorable people I encountered in the steel business. We have had many fond memories of sports, concerts, shows, dinners and yes business. Fond farewell Dale.

I am sorry you left this earth without giving us a chance to say goodbye. You left your mark, my friend, and Naples will not be the same. RIP Until we meet again.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dale on July 4th, many years ago, when I showed him a rental home. Despite it being a holiday, Dale came prepared with a lovely bottle of wine as a token of gratitude, which set the tone for the kind of person he was. He ended up renting that home for four years, and from that moment on, our interactions were always filled with kindness and respect.

Dale was truly a class act. Every time he paid his rent, he included a handwritten note, a rare gesture in today's fast-paced world. His notes were more than just a payment; they were a testament to his character and the thoughtful nature he carried with him.
Though he was an older he lived with the vigor and enthusiasm of someone half his age. He often called me, not just to chat about real estate, but to motivate and inspire me to push further in my career. He believed in me, and his encouragement meant a lot to me.

Dale´s spirit and passion for life will always be remembered. He was more than a client; he was a mentor and a friend. I am grateful for the time we shared and the wisdom he imparted. May he rest in peace, knowing he left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him.

So sorry to see him go. We grew up together, and the last few years we would get together when Linda and I wintered in Naples. I am really going to miss him and the good times we had reminiscing about Hobart.
