I have many happy memories of being with Danny, particularly while we were grade-school age, at and near his home near Crown Point, IN. He and I would help harvest ingredients from the garden to help Aunt Marge make home-made pizza; we'd gather eggs from the hen house; take long walks with Danny's siblings in the woods next to their property; ride to Leroy and Palmer on bikes defying the stone roads and farm dogs just to buy an RC Cola at the general store/gas station; pick blackberries and blueberries; go fishing sometimes; go occasionally into Crown Point in Aunt Marge's old Volkswagen as she roared down the curvy, hilly old stone roads creating huge clouds of dust; and I'll never forget the many nightly weenie roasts we enjoyed under the old Hickory tree next to the garden, among other things. As we grew older, we saw each other less and less over the years... but I will remember these happy memories forever.

I heard tonight about Danny's passing. Such sad news. I worked with Danny at Werner. At first, I didn't know what to think of Danny. I soon learned that his gruff demeanor and unusual sense of humor was the "cover" for a heart of gold. He was one of the sweetest men I have ever known. I will always remember his kind "You're the Best!" after helping with even the most menial of tasks. He was definitely ONE OF A KIND and will be missed by anyone lucky enough to have known him.

Dear Aunt Marge, Jamey, Eldon, and Tom,
I can't begin to tell you how saddened I was to hear of Danny's passing. My mind immediately went back to thoughts of us as kids and the great times we all had on your farm. I especially remember the great family meals we would have together with Grandma and Grandpa Strong. The kids would all have to sit at the "kids table" in the kitchen where we would commence to have a grand old time! It would start with the belching contests which were usually started by Charlie but won by Danny. Then we would proceed to the home-made noodle{Grandma Strong's specialty} sucking contests which would eventually cause one of the adults to come in and put a stop to all of our fun! Of course, it was the boys that got us all into trouble, Jamey and I were the innocent bystanders in all of this! The memories of all of us kids together are my absolute fondest childhood memories. Even though time and miles have separated us all as we went on our separate paths in life, in my heart we are together as family.
Doug and I send our deepest sympathy to all of you at this time and our prayers that our Lord will fill your hearts with His love, comfort, and peace.

I worked with Danny at Berkley Risk Administrators Company. We are both of Irish descent and from the South Side of Chicago. Though from the South Side, we both were Cub fans. Danny was intelligent and a hard worker. He also had a great sense of humor. He will be missed.

I extend my sincere sympathies to the Strong family. I had the pleasure of working with him at Werner in Omaha, and consider myself lucky to have known him. Danny would not want us to be upset about his passing, but would prefer we remember his wonderful sense of humor. May God bless and keep all of you in your time of need.

As I read all the previous entries, I notice how many lives Danny touched all over the US, from California to Denver, Omaha, Florida, Illinois and Indiana. He was certainly a very special person that will be greatly missed.
I was deeply sadened when I heard of his passing. I worked with him at Werner. I will always have fond memories of Danny.

I will always remember Danny as a great man. I knew him for less than a year, but yet he had become my closest and best friend. I loved his wit and humor. He had become my closest confidante. He shared his advice when I needed it. He lifted me up when I was feeling down. His combination of intelligence, wit, humor and caring for others I had never seen before in only one person. I thank him for sharing his life with me and helping me be a better person. I will miss him terribly. My sympathies to his family whom I know he loved very much. He shared his thoughts and love of them often with me. Bless you Danny and thank you. Love always Rich.

Danny was my boss at CNA in Denver. He made work a fun place to be. Fact is he made spending time with him fun. Whether it was at the watering hole, poker night, or spending the holidays with me & my family when he couldn't make it home. I'll always remember his one liners (Strongism's) "It Is What It Is" or "Business is Business" and the many other sayings. Danny was truly an exceptional person and friend and I will always remember his kindness and will miss him.

Danny will always have a special place in my heart, as well as others!
I worked with him at Werner and enjoyed listening to his stories about his life and family.
Danny was so proud of his kids and loved to tell stories about them and when you could tell that he was getting soft, Danny would always end the conversation with "What can I say, they take after me".
May all of you with hearts that ache find comfort and joy in the love that Danny shared with all of you and may you pass it on. The world would be a better place with more Dannys!!!!
As Danny would say"Hey...Just me talking, Okay"?
May God Bless you and keep you.
Sincerely,
Tachele Woodington

Dear Aunt Marge, Jamey, Eldon and Tom:
It was heartbreaking to learn about Danny's untimely passing last weekend. It's never easy to hear such news--especially when it's a beloved relative.
Although our lives have gone in different directions and our get-togethers have been few and far between in recent decades, on those rare occasions when we did get together I could always count on Danny to have that familiar twinkle in his eye and to hear his infectious laughter throughout the day. He was always fun to be around.
As kids, I used to love visiting you on the farm in Crown Point. Some of my favorite memories are of Danny and your family when we would go fishing, pick berries, take long walks in the woods on the old County Road, play outside during summer thunderstorms (it took a while to convince Danny to do that!), sled down the hills on freshly-fallen snow and then desperately try to jump off before hitting the icy creek (Charlie usually would get soaked!), sitting around the fire in the dead of night roasting hot dogs and marshmallows, shivering in the upstairs (pitch-dark) bedroom in the dead of winter under numerous blankets....and riding the old bikes on the hottest of summer days all the way to LeRoy just to get a bottle of Royal Crown cola...all the while pedaling as fast as we could so the dogs on farms along the way couldn’t bite our ankles.
We had many great times over the years. I will miss Danny ...and Charlie, but I will never forget my cousins and all the wonderful times we shared.
Most Sincerely and Love Always....

I had the priviledge and pleasure to work with Danny with CNA in Denver. From the first time he tapped his cane on my desk to introduce himself, I formed an affinity with this man that grew with frequent business travel and many memorable golf rounds.... and of course, the colorful conversations at the 19th hole. For those of us he allowed into his world outside of work, we'll all be better people for it. He was truly a larger than life man who will be missed by many.

I was deeply saddened to her of Danny's passing. I worked with him at Werner Enterprises when he first came to Omaha. We became friends fast and I truly enjoyed working with him and we both enjoyed the FAC (Friday Afternoon Club) meetings we attended. A time to relax after the days work. Danny's great sense of humor always made us laugh. He never felt sorry for himself and endeavored to see the best in every person he met and in every situation he was in. I will miss him as will many. We at Werner who knew him will toast him at the old FAC meeting place one last time and I believe that he’ll be watching us there and loving every minute of it.

Dear Strong family: I am sorry to hear of your family's loss. In the brief time I knew Danny he became an appreciated and friendly face in the office at Berkley Risk Administrators. He had a nice and truly genuine way of relating to people. Being a Cubs fan I will think of him the next time I watch the Cubs. I am sure he is having a chat and a Budweiser with Harry Caray as I type this message.

I worked with Danny for a couple of years at the CNA office in Duluth, GA . He was my boss and a very good friend. I have a lot of fun memories of Danny but the one thing that stays with me the most is that he may have come across as gruff on the outside but he had a Heart Of Gold. I will miss him greatly.

Danny and I were friends for over 20 years. He was kind, caring, witty, humorous and always full of life. He dearly loved family, friends and golf. I am blessed to have so many fond memories of him. My guess is heaven has a grand golf course that is just as challenging as it is beautiful. Most likely, Danny's first foursome with include his father James, brother Charles, Mosses and Jesus. Of course Danny will most likely lay out some ground rules, Moses will not be allowed to part the lake to play his ball and Jesus, well, no miracle shots.
