DAVID WESLEY "WES" SHAKE HOBART, IN
David Wesley "Wes" Shake, 84, of Hobart, formerly a resident of Schererville, and Whiting, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016 at his home with his family by his side, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving daughters: Linda Ewen and Terri Lynn Shake; son- in-law David Moore; sisters: Nancy (Jim) Ostrom and Sherry Sue O'Brien; special cousin, Harvey (Judy) Hollifield; sisters- in-law: Evelyn Gavach, and Sandra Stephenson; brother in-law, Ronald (Juanita) Stephenson; grandchildren: David (Patti Malkowski) Moore, Jennifer (Dave) Baron, Crystal Moore, Christopher Moore, Shawn Moore, Scott Moore, Tiffany (Jason) Shone, Amber Moore, Brent (Ann) Ewen, Blair (Kristie) Ewen; great grandchildren: Aaron, Alyssa, Anthony, Carlie, Cheyenne, Corby, Damon, Dani, Darius, Derek, Emma, Marissa, Natalia, Odelia, Tyler; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, Adalin "Sis" Stephenson-Shake; daughter, Nancy Sue (Shake) Moore; brothers: Jerry Sparks and Terry Sparks; son-in-law, Eugene Ewen; grandson, Brook Ewen; parents, Vivian Hollifield- Shake-Sparks, and Floyd Shake; stepfather, Elmo Sparks. Indiana Harbor Masonic Lodge 686 will hold service Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at Lincoln Ridge Funeral Home, 7607 W. Lincoln Hwy., Schererville, (Rt. 30 east of Cline Ave.). Friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at 7:30 p.m. David "Wes" retired as a Captain from the Whiting Police Departmentment in 1977, after 21 years service, where he received several distinguished awards for bravery and heroism. He then retired in 1997 from UTLX, as Chief of Security. Wes was a Veteran of the United States Army, and a member of VFW Post 717, Past President of the Whiting Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 68, served on the Schererville Police Commission, and the Schererville Town Council. He was a proud 54 year member of the Indiana Harbor Masonic Lodge No 686 F.&A.M., and the Orak Shrine Michigan City. In Lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, P.O. Box 31356, Tampa, FL 33631-3356.
