David Torrence Obituary

DAVID LEE TORRENCE, JR. "PEAS" and "BIG BUCK" EAST CHICAGO, IN David Lee Torrence, Jr., "Peas" and "Big Buck", age 66, of East Chicago, IN, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at home. He is survived by his wife, Willa; four daughters: Iris Torrence of Merrillville, IN, Janine and Natalie Torrence both of East Chicago, IN and Nicole (Jesse) Cobb of Hammond, IN; five grandchildren: Perris Perry, Tasia Harris, Mekhai Woolfork, Christian Medrano and Nicolette Cobb; uncle, Henry (Lillie) Torrence of Cleveland, OH; aunt, Rose Pollard of Cleveland, OH; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Goodwill Baptist Church, 5119 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN with Rev. Cedric Howard officiating. Interment at Fern Oaks Cemetery, Griffith, IN. Visitation will be Friday, February 8, 2008 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Goodwill Baptist Church. Mr. Torrence was retired from Inland Steel and served as a Deacon at Goodwill Baptist Church. Hinton & Williams Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

In that I am a long way from home, I try to stay abreast by reading the paper as often as possible. Today's reading was quite a shock.
