Deborah Stack Obituary
October 12, 1954 - June 17, 2025
Deborah "Debbie" Jean Stack, age 70, of DeMotte, Indiana, passed away on June 17, 2025. Debbie was born in Germany, from Chicago, Lake Station and Merrillville and made her home in DeMotte, where she built a life filled with love, laughter, and deep devotion to her family. She spent her early years working in the community in Lake Station, IN, and driving as an EMT for the Lake Station ambulance center. She retired from Lake County Corrections, where she worked as a correctional officer and payroll associate for almost 30 years, remembered by many for her dedication. Known for her immaculate home and perfectly kept yard, Debbie took great pride in her surroundings. She had a passion for politics, a love for the thrill of slot machines, and an even deeper love for her cats, Poppy and Marley. But more than anything, she cherished her time with her familyespecially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy and pride. Debbie is survived by her mother, Shirley Caley; her children, Scott (Amy) Weliczko, Sandra (Kenny) Barnes, and Jennifer (Tim) Wotherspoon; her grandchildren, Christopher (Emily) Weliczko, Haley (Cody Sytsma) Wotherspoon, Hannah Barnes, and Synthia (Richard) Archer. Extended children and grandchildren, Brandon (Theresa) Stack and children, Taylor (Anthony) Gonzalez and children. She was blessed with a great-grandson, Stetson Jack, and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her great-granddaughter, Ellie Rose. Also, her long time friend, coworker and casino buddy, Dorothy Zolcak.
She was preceded in death by her son, Stanley Weliczko, husband, Brian G. Stack, husband Barry Lackovitch, her father, and her beloved kitty Missy.
A celebration of Debbie's life will be held at a later date. Her family will forever carry her memory in their hearts, remembering her strength, her humor, and the way she made every space and every moment feel like home.
